WILFW Ep. 1 – A Trip to the Moon (1902)

Hi everybody! I just finished episode #1 of a new series where I investigate noteworthy films– it’s called What I Learned From Watching. In this episode, I explore Georges Méliès’ 1902 classic sci-fi movie, A Trip to the Moon.

One really interesting production trend lately is the return to small studio spaces for filming. A Trip to the Moon was filmed entirely in Méliès’ relatively small studio. With the green screen era, we’ve seen a return to smaller studio spaces that manage to evoke extensive and rich worlds. Most notably, with Robert Rodriguez’s production of Sin City (2004) and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014).
